Vice President, Mexico and Central America Division 
 
Field Models 

This is a senior position that provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for the Field Demonstration Programs within the entire Mexico and Central America region to ensure a high level delivery of conservation outcomes according to CI’s business model and institutional priorities.  The VP reports to the Executive Vice-President for Programs and Science located in the Head Quarters office in Arlington, Virginia and is a member of the Program Management Group.

This position will be based in Central America.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position hires and develops leadership and key staff within the field division; develops and implements sustainable funding strategies, including raising funds from major donors in and outside the region
  • Follows institutional policies and sets standards related to operational and financial management and ensures that human and financial resources are aligned and maximized for the greatest conservation impact.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Ideal candidate should possess a masters degree, PhD or equivalent plus ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a comprehensive, complex set of conservation programs across multiple geographic areas will be essential, as well as the ability to cooperate and work with local governments and public agencies, international development agencies, multilateral organizations, UN agencies, international cooperation programs, multi and bilateral funding agencies and the ability to raise funds from a variety of sources to ensure financial sustainability. 
  • We are looking for an intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people and partner organizations at all levels and communicate well in both English and Spanish.
