Our partnership with Chevron is focused on best practices for oil and gas development and providing overall support of biodiversity conservation.
Chevron has participated as a founding member of the corporate consultative group providing critical support and input into the development of the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) for business. This tool was developed in partnership with leaders from the conservation and business communities to facilitate access to critical biodiversity datasets for key decision-makers within the private sector.
CI and Chevron also partnered in Indonesia in 2006 and 2007 on projects focused on reducing degradation of forest habitat and involve local communities in conservation of Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park, as well as studying panther populations in Mount Salak forest.
Chevron was a member of the Energy & Biodiversity Initiative, convened by CELB to promote best practices for integrating biodiversity conservation into upstream oil and gas development.
