Tourism focused on nature protects the environment and benefits local populations. It is also an economic solution for Madagascar. The Andasibe Guides Association was established in 1992, to support local young people. This documentary tells about this pioneer guide group in Madagascar. It also shows the crucial role that guides play in protecting nature and species in peril. This video shows us Madagascar's unique natural beauty, taking us through two important protected forests, Andasibe and Ranomafana. Mikiaka Manantena is a cry of hope not only for the lemurs, the chameleons, and the orchids that make these reserves their home, but also for Madagascar's future. The film shows two families of Indris, the largest of all the lemurs, in the Andasibe National Park, as they attract almost 25,000 visitors per year. Mikiaka Manantena explains how this successful initiative can be replicated in other regions of Madagascar.
