This documentary shows what was at stake during a tenuous time in Suriname's history. YEPI is the call made by Trio Chief Granman Pesainpe to the outside world for help.

In the mid-1990's, Asian companies showed great interest in acquiring large logging concessions in Suriname. The royalties and taxes from this foreign investment may have sounded promising, but the short term boost to Suriname's economy would have come at a high cost: the destruction of one of the last great expanses of wilderness in the world. Fortunately, the concessions were blocked and the forests were preserved.
