The Amazon Business Alliance is an innovative iniciative to promote sustainable investments in the Peruvian Amazon. We facilitate the development of models that improve the quality of life of the Amazonian communities that conserve standing forests, contributing to sustainable development and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Amazon Business Alliance is an initiative led by Conservation International and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which seeks to catalyze the development of sustainable businesses in the Peruvian Amazon. Our main objective is to facilitate and create the necessary conditions for green investments to grow, contributing to the achievement of national climate goals and the Sustainable Development Goals.
We promote economic development based on the sustainable use of natural resources, which seeks to improve the well-being of people in the Amazon, based on equity, gender and intercultural approaches. To this end, we work with local and indigenous communities, investors, public officials, corporate partners, research centers and civil society organizations.

SCALE-UP A MODEL FOR THE AMAZON
Peru is one of the 17 megadiverse countries in the world and the second with the largest extension of Amazonian forests. These forests are home to indigenous peoples with valuable traditional knowledge and ways of life closely linked to nature.
We focus on the Amazon because we believe in the potential that Amazonian communities have to develop sustainable businesses and contribute to climate goals and the Sustainable Development Goals, in a global context that demands more and more environmentally responsible products, as well as companies that want to mitigate and reduce their ecological footprint.
The Amazon Business Alliance will enhance and scale up the model that Conservation International has been successfully implementing in the Alto Mayo basin, in the San Martin region, to promote sustainable development at scale in the Peruvian Amazon. In a first stage, investments have been prioritized in Huanuco, Madre de Dios, San Martin and Ucayali.
